  • 101  Long Island districts reported data from their Property Tax Report Card as of Friday April 20, 2018.  Budget increases from these districts range from a decrease of .01% to an increase of 13.52% (average of 2.82%). Hicksville, with a .67% Budget to Budget increase currently ranks 4th lowest for all of Long Island and 3rd in Nassau County. Levy increases range from a decrease of -0.59% to an increase of 13.72% (average of 2.42%). Hicksville, with a 1.89% Levy to Levy currently ranks 24th Island-wide and 12th in Nassau County

The proposed 2018-19 budget includes over 20 enhancements to the delivery of Hicksville's educational program, upgrades to security and safety and enhancements to our facilities.  A few of these enhancements are: 

  • New 3rd grade Spanish Foreign Language in Elementary Schools programming;
  • Continuation and expansion of 1:1 Chromebooks for grades 4, 7 and 12; 
  • New textbooks:  World Language 7-12 Spanish, Advanced Placement and Composition, and new novels for Literature Circles in grades 7 and 8; 
  • Creation of safety and security mantraps at Burns Avenue, Dutch Lane, Fork Lane, Lee Avenue, Old Country Road, Woodland Elementary schools and Hicksville High School; 
  • Districtwide refinishing of all gym floors; painting, venetian blind replacement (as needed), playground repairs
